the market gathered more than 50 merchants and featured two special events:

ICE CREAM FAIR AT NEW AMSTERDAM MARKET
This August 22nd we celebrated the height of summer with six ice cream and sorbet makers including The Bent Spoon, Roberta's, Early Bird Cookery, Marlow & Daughters, MilkMade Ice Cream, and Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream. These artisans are committed to showcasing regional products and flavors. Each created up to three unique ice creams and sorbets for the market using only seasonal or responsibly sourced ingredients.

TOMATO FEST AT NEW AMSTERDAM MARKET to benefit fsnyc
Food Systems Network's celebration of the glorious TOMATO at New Amsterdam Market! Participants tasted and compare a dazzling array of dead ripe tomatoes at their peak of flavor. All tomatoes featured at the tasting were available for purchase from New Amsterdam Market vendors.

Animal Welfare Approved
AWA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving farm animal welfare. Their seal on meat, dairy and egg products certifies that these items meet their standards, which are some are the most rigorous and progressive animal care requirements in the nation, and the only ones requiring the animals to be raised outdoors and on pasture or range. They will be offering samples of Grazin’ Angus Acres Animal Welfare Approved pepperoni sitcks and Finger Lakes Dexter Creamery’s Animal Welfare Approved kefir cheese, kefir blue cheese, and their new kefir raw milk spreadable chive cheese at the market.

Basis
New York, NY
Basis is a distributor that provides both Farm-to-Chef and home delivery services to bring fresh, local foods from family farms to their customers. They will be selling seasonal fruit and produce, milk, cream, butter, yogurt, and poultry on behalf of BoBo Poultry, as well as a taste of what can be cooked with these ingredients.

Bee’s Needs

Mary Woltz runs the Bee’s Needs Apiary, and will be selling not only honey from her bees, but her own handcrafted lip balms and hand salves as well.

Bellwether Hard Cider
Trumansburg, NY
Bellwether makes around 10 varieties of hard cider, all with apples from their orchard of European cider varieties. As well as a number of apple ciders ranging from dry to semi-sweet, Bellwether also makes both a cherry cider and a black currant cider.

Benmarl Winery
Marlboro, NY,
Benmarl is America’s oldest vineyard, and produces artisan-made red, white, rose, and sweet wines that are aged carefully in oak or held in stainless steel in the Benmarl cellars until ready.


The Bent Spoon
Princeton, NJ
The Bent Spoon makes artisan ice creams and sorbets from seasonal ingredients locally sourced from New Jersey. They will participating in the Ice Cream Festival, bringing several flavors of ice cream and sorbet made with local, seasonal ingredients.

BKLYN Larder
Brooklyn, NY
This cheese and provisions store located in Park Slope is run by the owners of the pizzeria Franny’s, and sells a selection of high quality cheeses, prepared foods, and both local and imported groceries. They will be selling several domestic cheeses, as well as their house-made pickles and charcuterie.

Breezy Hill Orchard
Hudson Valley, NY.
This orchard and cider mill will be selling fresh, in-season fruit as well as juices, organic mint and mint tea.

Brooklyn Oenology
Brooklyn, NY
Brooklyn Oenology is a winery located on the edge of Williamsburg and Greenpoint. All of their wines are produced from grapes grown locally on the North Fork of Long Island.

Cellars at Jasper Hill
Greensboro, VT
The Cellars at Jasper Hill Farm provide aging facilities and services for a number of small, artisan farmstead cheese producers of the region. They also produce Cabot’s Clothbound Cheddar, and will be bringing a selection of their cheeses to the market.

Cherry Grove Farm
Lawrenceville, NJ
Cherry Grove Farm is a self-sustaining, certified organic farm. They produce a variety of farmstead, artisan cheese from their herd of Jersey cows, and also raise grass-fed beef and lamb, produce pork, sausage and cured meat from their Certified Berkshire pigs, and collect eggs from their free-range chickens.

Cooperstown Cheese Company
Milford, NY
These artisan cheese makers make two types of cheese with raw milk from the Swiss Brown cows of a neighboring farm: the Toma con Brio, which is soft and bloomy, and the Toma Celena, which is firm and aged. They also make their Jersey Girl Colby from the raw milk of a neighboring herd of Jersey cows, and will be selling all three cheeses at the market.

Farmer John Pahucki grows a wide variety of high quality produce, and will have a large selection of in-season fruit and vegetables.

Early Bird Cookery
Cochecton, NY
This catering and meal delivery service provides customers in Sullivan County, Wayne County, and New York City with wholesome meals from fresh, local ingredients. They will be participating in the Ice Cream Festival, with several flavors of their ice cream made from local, seasonal ingredients.

Edible Communities
Edible Communities publishes magazines specific to distinct culinary regions throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, which celebrate the local foods and communities of those regions. Representatives of the Edible magazine from a number of New York regions will be at the market, sharing the articles, recipes, and beautiful photographs contained in their magazines.

Home/Made, based in Red Hook Brooklyn, will be selling their herb-marinated goat cheese, dried fruits compote, chicken liver pate, a new caramel sauce, and their famous pizza bianca.

Hudson Valley Duck Farm
Ferndale, NY
The Hudson Valley Duck Farm humanely raises Moulard Ducks to produce foie gras as well as other duck products.

Grill-A-Chef
Bring your kitchen questions! As service, Grill-A-Chef personally guides cooks through their own kitchens, in order to encourage cooking and eating well. It offers free advice in the form of tips, recipes, fundamental techniques and simple demos. Grill-A-Chef hopes to inspire creativity in the kitchen and to help your ideas to the table

This coffee shop, located at the Seaport just a couple blocks from where the market takes place sells organic, fair trade, shade grown coffee. The will iced coffee and iced green tea for market-goers to enjoy.

Jimmy’s No. 43
New York, NY
Jimmy’s No. 43 serves a seasonal menu of small and large plates made primarily from local and organic ingredients. Market-goers will be able to enjoy their delicious pulled pork sandwiches.

Kombucha Brooklyn

Kombucha Brooklyn will have their carefully brewed kombucha for sale on tap in several flavors as well as classic. Buy it in growlers or by the cup, and bring your own cup for a discount.

La Newyorkina

Pastry chef Fany Gerson makes traditional Mexican sweets using a blend of traditional and local, seasonal ingredients. She sells her paletas at Hester Street Fair, La Esquina, and Marlow & Daughters, and will be introducing her aguas frescas at New Amsterdam Market.

Ledgenear farm taps their own maple trees to produce maple syrup.

Liddabit Sweets

Candy-makers Liz Gutman and Jen King make their handmade, artisanal confections from local, seasonal ingredients. Their candies include everything from caramels, lollipops, and jellies, to candy bars, honeycomb and caramel corn.

Luke’s Lobster

Luke’s Lobster will be providing market goers with their lobster rolls made from fresh, sustainably caught Maine lobster.

Marlow & Daughters

Marlow & Sons serves a simple menu that includes house-made sausages and seasonal specials, all made with meats and produce sourced from local purveyors. They will be providing market-goers with a taste of their fresh, delicious fare, and will also be participating in the ice cream festival with some of their house made, seasonal ice cream.

Mast Brothers Chocolate

Brothers Rick and Michael Mast are the only bean to bar chocolate makers in New York City, producing chocolate from directly sourced, fair trade cocoa beans in their Brooklyn “factory”. They will be selling their single origin chocolate bars, and bars flavored with ingredients such as Fleur de Sel, almonds and sea salt, or cocoa nibs.

McEnroe Organic Farm

McEnroe Farm is an organic institution supplying compost and soils to certified organic farms, gardens, landscaping projects, and greenroofs since 1987. At the market the farm sells a selection of delectable seasonal produce, poultry, and hot house tomatoes all raised and grown in the Harlem Valley in Dutchess county New York.

MilkMade Ice Cream

This membership-based ice cream company hand-delivers pints of their unique, homemade flavors to customers in New York City. They will bring several of their flavors made with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to participate in the Ice Cream Festival.

Mother-in-Law’s Kimchi

Lauryn Chun makes artisanal kimchi using a recipe from her mother’s restaurant Jang Mo Gip, in California. She will be selling her kimchis made with local, seasonal ingredients.

Narragansett Creamery
Providence, RI
Narragansett Creamery is the only cheese producer in the state of Rhode Island. They produce a variety of both fresh and aged cheeses, including their award-winning ricotta with pasteurized milk from local farms.

Nordic Breads
New York, NY
Artisan baker Simo Kuusisto bakes Finnish Ruis breads out of organic Nordic whole grain rye. He will be bringing both loaves and small rolls.

Orwasher’s Bakery
New York, NY
This artisan bakery from the Upper East Side of Manhattan bakes breads from original starters in a brick oven. They will bring their Ultimate Whole Wheat bread made with flour from Cayuga Pure Organics, their beer bread made with Six Point Craft Ales Otis Stout, and their artisan Wine Bread.

Painted Goat Farm

Painted Goat Farm is home to a small herd of 70 goats, and produces artisanal, farmstead fresh and cave-aged goat cheeses.

People’s Pops

The People’s Pops will be selling some of their wide variety of ice-pops from local, sustainably grown ingredients.

Located nearby the market on Beekman St., Provisions store is a purveyor of local, domestic, and organic products. They support a large number of local suppliers and also sell a variety of Stonehouse California Olive Oils.

This small shop cooks a simple menu of what they call “slow cooked Italian fast food, and will be serving their namesake porchetta sandwiches.

Queens County Farm Museum

This farm, also a New York City Park, is New York City's largest remaining tract of undisturbed farmland (dating from the 17th century) and the only working historical farm in the city. They will be bringing their own sustainably grown lettuce, kale, chard, herbs, flowers, beets, honey and eggs.

A pickling company based in the Lower East Side, they make a variety of cucumber pickles as well as everything from pickled smoked paprika okra and soy-wasabi green beans to sweet corn relish and curried green tomato condiment.

This pizzeria located in Bushwick will be bringing their house-made gelato made with local, seasonal, or responsibly sourced ingredients to participate in the Ice Cream Festival.

She Sells Seaweed

Kacie Loparto gathers and dries wild seaweed from the coast of Maine, and will be selling packages of Atlantic Wakame, Nori, Atlantic Kombu, Dulse, and Kelp seaweeds, as well as her own soup mix.

Sour Puss Pickles

This two-person pickling company produces pickles and preserves using only fresh produce from New York and New Jersey. They make everything from classic cucumber pickles to pickled beets, cauliflower, beans and more, as well as fruit preserves.

Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture
Pocantico Hills, NY
Stone Barns is both a farm and an education center, and is the partner of the Blue Hill restaurants, whose menus are determined by what produce the farm provides. Stone Barns will be bringing cut flowers, chicken, pork, beef and greens to the market.

Sullivan Street Bakery

The Sullivan Street Bakery produces handcrafted loaves inspired by the peasant breads of Tuscany and Rome.

Joanne Sharkey and Gregory Meyding grow heirloom vegetables, herbs, fruits and berries in the garden and small orchard, and make a variety of seasonal jams and jellies from their produce.

Taza produces traditional Mexican stone-ground chocolate from organic, direct trade cocoa beans. They will be selling bars, discs of chocolate in a variety of flavors, cocoa nibs, and chocolate covered almonds.

Valley Shepherd Creamery
Long Valley, NJ
This sheep farm and creamery produces a wide variety of raw sheep’s milk cheeses.

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream
New York, NY
Van Leeuwen sells ice cream from three ice cream trucks in New York City, as well as at their café in Greenpoint and in pints at various fine food stores. They make their ice cream using fresh local cream and eggs and carefully sourced flavorings. They will be participating in the Ice Cream Festival, serving three flavors from their menu, including a local currant ice cream made with currants from the Hudson Valley.

Wild Gourmet Food

Nova Kim and Les Hook gather wild foods from the woods and fields of Vermont, including many different types of mushrooms and a variety of other greens and edibles. They will be bringing a selection of freshly gathered items, including wild sweet fern, which they will also be supplying to Kombucha Brooklyn for their Sweet Fern Kombucha.

Zone 7
Lawrenceville, NJ
Zone 7 is a farm-fresh distribution service connecting farmers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania to local chefs and grocers. They deliver produce from 25 small, sustainable farms to restaurants and stores year-round, and will be selling a selection of this produce at the market.
